Living in Two Worlds

This is a membership Morsel from “Too Young to Retire”. Today, we are continuing to

talk about Community and how it has changed since the pandemic started.

Before the pandemic there where many communities that were vibrant and full of life. As the lock downs spread and people isolated all these communities shuttered their doors and where not allowed to have anybody come to them.

Churches and social groups like Rotary, Lions, Toastmasters and Junior League stopped meeting and struggled to maintain any sense of program. Some tried through email newsletters or phone trees with limited success.

Zoom became a household word with people quickly gravitating to it and learning to use it to visit and hold meeting. It was right out of science fiction like Star Trac and the comics like Dick Tracy where you could call and meet face to face with out being face to face.

Who would have thought that this option existed except on a limited basis? The only problem was people felt unfulfilled. They missed, in fact craved human contact and were feeling trapped in their houses.

A Trip to the Grocery store was a big event and everyone at home wanted to go because you had a chance to get out, walk around, see and talk to real people face to face.

I think the pandemic has taught us that no man is an island, that we all need human contact to stay grounded and healthy. The good thing was distance was no longer an issue for getting together. You just arranged a time and zoomed your way over.

By being part of the 2 Young 2 Retire you will learn what these strategies are.

There are so many things you will learn that you should never run out of options. Sign up for our classes, join in the discussion and become part of our community about life after working at www.patterson2y2r.com
