This is a membership Morsel from “Too Young To Retire." Today we are talking about purpose and why it is so important.
Napoleon Hill listed purpose as the first principle in his list of seventeen principles for those who want to succeed and grow rich. Why was this chosen out of all the other things he could have chosen. His lists include other things like having masterminds, faith in yourself that you will succeed, using creative thinking, and many more ideas.
This is the one area everyone has to embrace, otherwise you would never get up in the morning. When you were younger you may have needed your parents to prod you to get up and go to school. You may not have had not idea why except some vague statement you will need this if you want to succeed.
Later in life you find you need to get up to go to work to make money, or feed your family. Maybe your purpose has changed because the baby needed changing, or you were going to meet a bunch of friends to go hiking or skiing. There was a reason for you to get up. Purpose can have many meanings that help to motivate you.
If you didn’t have a purpose all you would do is sit on a corner begging for money.
The reason I mention this is if you have dreams or goals then you have to incorporate those dreams into your purpose if you ever want to achieve them. Otherwise, they are just wishes and some day you will look back and these will have evaporated into the mists of time and you will wonder why you never accomplished them.
“Too Young To Retire” is a program that is designed to help you discover what it is you want to do when you move on after 30 years of working. Have you given it a thought about why you want to retire from your current career? What do you and your spouse want to do in the third stage of your life? A new career? How about traveling more, maybe you want to stay home and create the best garden in the world.
