Continuing on with my discussion on Rodman’s ride he has several defining guiding principles he lives by.
The first is Be Honest – with yourself and never let money interfere with your decision making at the expense of being honest. There is no compromising with honesty.
Second is Work hard – when you give the extra effort, people recognize and admire that. There is truth to the old adage “the harder you work, the luckier you get.”
Third earn respect – Honesty, your work ethic, and leading by example earn you respect. Never ask people to do things you would not do and treat people the way you would want to be treated.
Fourth – Have a passion for what you do – choose a career that you have an absolute passion for and take pride in it so that you enjoy going to work every day. You will be doing it for a long time.
Fifth – Be charitable, give back to activities that make you feel good, meet other caring people who care about the same things and make a difference in the lives of those who are less fortunate. It will improve your self-esteem.
Don Rodman talks about meeting Bobby Orr with the Bruins and Larry Bird and Red Auerbach of the Celtics. He met Rob Gronkowski and the Boston Catholic Bishop who all helped in his fund raising efforts for the Boys and Girls clubs of Greater Boston and other youth programs.
Do you have a group that you are passionate about that is helping under served groups? If not than I encourage you to pick up a copy of Rodman’s Ride and read it. Find that activity that helps others, don’t just give money but become involved.
