This is a membership Morsel from “Too Young to Retire”. Today, we are continuing to
talk about the benefits of community.
This is paraphrased from a post by a local Senior Citizens Center. They are stressing the need to stay connected with your community as you age and that there are a lot of benefits you experience doing this.
What are those benefits you may ask?
It will give you a boost to your mental health: Consistent contact with friends can help maintain good emotional health, which means reducing stress and lowering the risk of depression.
Improved physical health: Consistent socialization can lower blood pressure, boost the immune system, and reduce physical pain.
Better eating and sleeping habits: Older adults can be vulnerable to malnutrition, but studies show they often eat more food and healthier options when dining with others.
Provides a sense of belonging: Social activities not only help you stay connected to those you care about most, but they can give you a feeling of belonging.
Increased longevity: Some studies have shown that those who are connected to others, even live a longer, happier life. It will also help you deal with the stress when you lose a friend or loved one due to age or illness.
There are so many things you will learn that you should never run out of options. Sign up for our classes, join in the discussion and become part of our community about life after working at www.patterson2y2r.com
