Continuing on with my discussion on the Four Agreements. I will pick up where left off with the four agreements and what they were.
I would like to now explore the thoughts he had on how we are our own domesticators which inhabit our minds. He calls them, the judge, the victim and this keeps us in check with our belief systems.
This mental training is the training that your great grandparents received, and passed on to your grandparents, who passed it on to your parents who passed it on to you. These beliefs are not necessarily bad but they need to be examined.
The way to happiness and to live in heaven on earth you have to review all these thousands of agreements that you have accepted. This isn’t easy because the judge inside your head will chastise you and tell you that you have responsibilities.
The victim in your head will make you accept the old training and that you are not able to do better. Last your belief system will reinforce these negative forces.
He talks about the three way you can re-examine these beliefs and how not only about deleting the old belief but that you then have to replace them with a belief that complies with the four agreements.
Most of these beliefs are emotionally driven and you have to develop the warrior spirit and learn to control your own emotions and reactions. He talks about how you have to embrace the thoughts expressed by Jesus and other religions.
You have to forgive other people who have wronged you so you are not wasting energy on past wrongs. He doesn’t say forget about them but you must forgive them.
It is now your responsibility to not let them wrong you twice or more times by reliving that wrong or putting yourself in a position that they can repeat that wrong against you.
He then finishes the book with the three methods to cleanse yourself of old beliefs and replace them with new. He ends by saying that this is a lifelong process.
Once you start on it you will be striving to enjoy your destiny, to live in heaven while you are on this earth. It’s a quick read and I encourage you to read it if you enjoy philosophy.
If you have struggled with these questions and issues then Patterson2Y2R should be a place you should visit. Share your stories and challenges. I have an ear that would love to hear your stories.
Let’s taste the real meaning of life. I am still working on my course with a goal of launching a starter course by June 30th, and I will keep you abreast as to how the process goes.
